DAOC risen from the ashes?

I am a little nostalgic when it comes to DAoC since I was involved in it from release and was an active player for seven years. Though not my first MMORPG, that title belongs to Asheron’s Call, it is certainly the one that hold my fondest memories. I have not found a game to date that can replicate the RvR action of DAoC.

With the conversion of all servers (except for Gaheris and Mordred) to the mighty Ywain server, I decided to revisit the old stomping grounds. What I found appears to be the rebirth of DAoC. Population seems to dip to the high 2000′s at off peak times and spike to 3500 at peak playing hours. Though WoW would laugh at such numbers, they are more than adequate for massive RvR.

I have been back on for a few days and have been having a blast. The /level 20 command has been disabled, so anyone starting new, or restarting from scratch, will not be alone. Newbie areas are full of people. For those returning and transferring level 50 characters to the new servers RvR is also in full swing.

Not sure if its a glitch, but when I reactivated my account, both my main account and bot account were activated. The odd part is it is only charging me for one account. Not complaining, we’ll see how long it lasts.

So if you have been away for a while why not come back and check it out for a month. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
